Data Archiving in SEND format

Your legacy systems present an opportunity to reduce maintenance costs. However, there is also a unique opportunity to preserve your data integrity and make it accessible for future data mining. PharmQuest understands this opportunity and can help you achieve this.

The objective of SEND Data Archiving is to develop a solution for the legacy applications retirement. SEND Data Archiving aims at converting study data from the legacy applications into a SEND compliant XML format.

The SEND Data Archiving involves the following steps:

  1. Gap Analysis between legacy applications and SEND format (done in collaboration with your IT staff)
  2. Conversion of data into SEND formatted XML files
  3. Validation of converted data

The diagram above shows the high-level architecture that can be used to convert the data from legacy systems to an XML format that is suitable for archiving. Various parts of the system are described below:

  • Data Source
The source of the data may be a relational database or a set of flat files or a legacy system with a special interface.
  • Resource Adapter
Resource Adapter is a software component that allows the system to read data from a particular data source. It reads data from source system and maps it to SEND objects.
  • SEND Objects
The SEND Object Model is used for in-memory organization of SEND data.
  • Validator
The SEND objects are validated before they are converted to an XML document.
